Revenue, Margin, and Which Jobs Actually Made Money
This month against last, what's outstanding, hours logged, quote conversion — and the profitability of every job you ran.

Most owners in this trade know their revenue and not their margin. Those are very different businesses to run.
What it shows
- Revenue this month against last month.
- Active jobs, and what's outstanding.
- Hours logged, and jobs completed this month.
- Revenue over time, so a bad month reads as a trend or a blip.
- Your most-used services, ranked by how often they appear rather than by what they earn.
- Quote conversion rate — how many estimates turn into work.
- Job profitability: average margin, plus your most and least profitable jobs.
The two numbers to actually look at
Quote conversion. If it's very low, you're either too expensive or too slow to follow up — and you can tell which by how long your estimates sit before they're opened. If it's very high, you're too cheap.
Least profitable jobs. There is almost always a category of work you keep taking that loses money. It's usually the one you think of as your bread and butter.
These numbers are only as good as your expenses and hours, so log both.
